Around Taranaki
Walk the Mountain, Surf, Sand, Gardens!

Whether you enjoy a holiday around Taranaki, or travel through en route to Wellington or as you go north.....there is much to enjoy and several special events you plan to coincide your visit with.
Located on the west coast of New Zealand’s North Island, Taranaki……or "the Naki" as the locals call it, is best known for stunning Mt Taranaki.....so similar to Mt Fuji it was used for the filming of the Last Samurai…..farming, beautiful gardens and surf beaches. And perhaps.... rugby!
New Plymouth is the main city and has been upgraded over recent years making it a very pleasant destination for those touring on their holidays in New Zealand.
The smaller towns include Stratford, Eltham, Inglewood and Manaia.
Base yourself in New Plymouth while you explore the city and surrounding countryside. Take some time to meander around the Taranaki coast where the Tasman Sea meets land in a crash of waves and around Mt Taranaki.
