New Zealand City Weddings

Auckland Weddings

These New Zealand City Weddings suggestions are just a few options for those who would prefer to get married in one of the main cities.Close to flights in and out with plenty of accommodation close by.

There are many beautiful historic houses and buildings that have been specially redesigned to cater for New Zealand city weddings and invariably they are surrounded by gorgeous gardens for photos and and/or an outdoor wedding ceremony if preferred.

Alberton House

An historic homestead on the side of Mt Albert Alberton House is a lovely venue.... with expansive lawns and gardens this is a very romantic place for an outdoor wedding combine with an indoor reception.

Allely House–West Auckland

A smaller old historic house now a popular restaurant, Allely House is another venue where you can have an informal wedding with the wedding ceremony in the picturesque gardens and reception in the restaurant.....all in one location.

Mollies Boutique

Mollies Boutique is an award winning boutique hotel in an historic homestead in Ponsonby. A central Auckland location you could have your wedding ceremony and reception as well as honeymoon in this one romantic location.This is not a venue for large numbers....perfect for a more intimate wedding party.

McHughs - overlooks Cheltenham Beach - on Auckland's North Shore

McHughs is located in what was once in what was once a large old wooden bungalow right on the beach front. THe perfect place to have the wedding ceremony on the beach, and have your reception inside, overlooking the Hauraki Gulf and Rangitoto Island.

Auckland Museum

It is possible to book your wedding in the Auckland Musuem. Either the Grand Foyer or Event Centre will make for a glamorous evening wedding.(The wedding must take place after 6.00 pm in the evening. A wonderful place if you like the ambiance of this magnificent historic building – Doric columns, high ceilings, mood lighting .....and the reception to be held on site. Stunning!

Wellington Wedding

Boomrock

While this page is New Zealand City Weddings I include Boomrock as it is only 30 minutes from Wellington. For an outdoor farm wedding ceremony overlooking the Cook Strait....Boomrock is a great Wellington wedding location. Entertain the guests with some clay shooting and driving golf balls at extreme greens before having your reception at the Lodge.

Christchurch Weddings

NOTE: I have not added any Christchurch venues as many of the special destinations are still not open due to earthquakes and sadly one or two have had to be demolished.

There will be a few still functioning you could research if you are keen to wed in the area. Unfortunately many of the popular historic stone buildings are no longer fit to use.

Queenstown Weddings

This resort town is considered one of the most romantic places in the world. Combine the beautiful scenery of mountains and lakes with stone churches, vineyards and gardens....your wedding choices are many.

Prime Restaurant and Bar

Overlooking Lake Wakatipu to the Remarkables Prime Restaurant is a stunning central Queenstown venue for your wedding. You could arrive by boat for a grand entrance.

Dunedin Weddings

Larnach Castle

Located on the Otago Peninsula, Larnach Castle is New Zealand’s only real castle. Set in beautiful gardens with picturesque views....this castle is filled with New Zealand antique furniture. It is a really lovely location for a historic Dunedin wedding.
