New Zealand Sailing Holiday

Experience the beautiful New Zealand Waters from a Sail Boat!

A New Zealand sailing holiday could be several days, or only two hours. It depends on where your interest in spending time on a boat lies.

If you are an experienced sailor, no doubt you will be chartering a yacht to explore our beautiful harbours and coastline. However, many people enjoy a short sailing holiday experience on a day tour.

Sailing is a major national sport and New Zealander’s are well known as world class sailors .We are so lucky to have the perfect conditions. Our school children who live near the sea learn to sail in Optimist yachts as part of their school curriculum. Many progress from there to make themselves a life in the yachting fraternity.

The main areas for sailing are

  • Auckland - known as the City of Sails
  • Bay of Islands
  • Marlborough Sounds
If you are looking for more detailed information about these areas try here - Unique New Zealand Sailing

Chartering a Boat

You can charter a boat for a sailing holiday with family and friends in the Hauraki Gulf or Bay of Islands with Charter Link or if you are thinking about chartering a yacht, trimaran or some other boat, try from this list Tourism New Zealand Boating and Sailing

A Unique New Zealand Sailing Holiday

For tourists, there are many different opportunities to enjoy sailing around our coastline. Perhaps you would like to try sailing with a difference. You can do a 5 day tour of the Hauraki Gulf in Auckland on a Tall Ship , and the Bay of Islands has the Tucker Thompson Tall Ship.

Another exciting unique sailing experience is the two hour Explore New Zealand sail, on an America’s Cup yacht on Auckland’s beautiful Hauraki Gulf.
