I also always like to know I have medical insurance so I am covered for any health or accidental injury. We do not have a system where you can sue for injury in New Zealand. We have a no fault system, with a national Accident Compensation Insurance system.

Check when New Zealand public holidays fall. This is relevant New Zealand tourist information to help you plan your independent holiday travels around these days if you prefer to travel in quieter seasons, or windows of time. Our public and school holidays may affect accommodation and travel bookings due to locals also travelling at this time in large numbers.Being able to work around these dates should decrease the likelihood of any hassles.

Opening hours and holidays for shops, restaurants and tourist attractions. Most will be open on public holidays. But charges will be higher on in restaurants. This is due to a government imposed wage structure, where employees must be paid double time, plus get a day off later, in lieu, which increases their costs considerably.
