New Zealand Waterfalls

Every Waterfall Imaginable in Stunning Locations!

New Zealand waterfalls are found in the mountains and glacier country, by beaches,in the rainforest and are a feature of many of our best bush walks.

Throughout both the North and South Islands you will find gorgeous waterfalls big and small, with every kind of cascade imaginable. If you love them......when you are on your holidays in New Zealand you will want to plan for siteseeing detours, as many are a little off the beaten track. Others are easily accessible... and you can drive very close to the viewing platform.

Fiordland with beautiful untouched rainforest, lakes, rivers, mountains and fiords would probably have the most waterfalls in New Zealand including the famous Sutherland Falls – discovered in 1888 by Donald Sutherland and a short side track off the also famous Milford Track. One of the world's tallest falls... it is probably the most world reknowned waterfall in the country.

View from the Water.....

After rain or in spring when the snow is melting.....the waterfalls will be at their best. A feature of Milford Sound is the many waterfalls cascading down the sheer cliffs of the fiord, and after rain.....they are truly spectacular!

Kayakers will have the opportunity to get in close on rivers such as at Haruru Falls in Waitangi. While the Huka Falls at Taupo are a fast flowing end to the Waikato river, with a gorgeous aqua blue spill that is impressive.

Select Waterfalls to View

In the next few pages I make some suggestions for New Zealand Waterfalls it is worth taking the time to view. In no particular order as to size.... I have arranged them in location from North to South so you can easily find them. There will be others that are also very impressive.....check the You Tube video for more ideas that fit in with your itinerary.
