A "MUST DO"!
by: Anonymous

The purangi winery is the best and most unique place in new zealand I have been to! The wine tasting is pure fun and the guy who is leading it is so funny that I couldn't stop laughing...the most relaxing wine tasting ever! Despite the wine tasting, this place is like in a farytale - the right place to sit down, relax and have a yummie pizza from the wood fired pizza oven! We spent a couple of hours at this wonderful place and are so looking forward to come back to it soon!

LOVE Purangi Winery
by: Pauline, James, Warwick and Sophie

I Love Purangi Winery. The rustic feel, the variety of tastes from the wines to the liquers, to the fortified offerings.... Fantastic.

The tasting room offers just that... a taste of what they do, but they also have a 'bar' in the building so you can sit under the KiwiFruit vines and enjoy a tart Apple Cider, or a sweet Fiejoa Cider... or a treacley Rum... oooh, so many choices.

I was reading another blog about the winery, which got to me, and has spurred me into action... (amerrylife.com/food/review-purangi-winery/)

'amerrylife' blog contains some great pictures and nice words about the wines and location, but some really scathing words about the host.

I couldn't disagree more!

Conveniently, there is no opportunity to post comments on the blog, so there is no opportunity to rebut the comments... so here they are instead. :)

We spent a few hours at Purangi Winery one sunny Saturday afternoon in June, and found the host to be very funny, friendly, charming and informative, a really decent bloke who made us feel really welcome and comfortable. I think Danny is a credit to Purangi and to the Coromandel, and I would highly recommend a visit to hear his banter, and sample the wares.

I really cant fathom how 'amerrylife' could be so offended by someone who was so down to earth and hospitable. One can only conclude, her own absence of a sense of humour contributed to the miserable time she apparently had to endure (with all that free wine tasting!). There were 6 'customers' in while we were there, and every single one of us had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

I cant wait to go back, and will certainly be telling everyone i possibly can, about how much fun we had at Purangi. :-)

You should definitely find some time to pop in!
Keep up the great work.

Lovely place
by: Anonymous

With its rustic look, over grown grape vines over the house, very rustic and old interior, you will never expect to find such a lovely place. The owner let us sample what they make, from wines through spirits. You will not be disappointed.

Their feijoa liquor is lovely! Love them. My bf had a good time catching up with the owner. They talk about wines, pizza (sold there) !!!! Highly recommend that you spare sometime there!
