Shopping New Zealand can mean Cafes and Gardening Outlets

New Zealander's love to garden. If you too are a keen gardener, while you may not be able to take much home in the way of live plants , I suggest you have a look in some of the garden centres and at the same time enjoy a cafe meal or a coffee. There is something most appealing about eating lunch outside set amongst the plants.

What you may find interesting are the many small items for gardeners. Some are unique to New Zealand and you may find a plaque, or ornamental item to place in your own garden as a momento of your holiday .

There are several chains throughout the country including:

• Kings Garden Centres

• Palmers

Many smaller centres have great individually owned garden centres.

Distinctly New Zealand Food Shopping

New Zealand has often been referred to as the "land of milk and honey." This refers to the mainstays of our economy. Our agricultural and horticultural products.

Tourists will particularly enjoy our wonderful honey, wines, chutneys, jams and sauces, and some may even want to go to the effort of sourcing meat and cheeses to take home. There will be special requirements for this.

There is also an extensive range of bee products that are popular in the health industry.

Do check what you can take back to your home country. Not all countries allow honey in.But most honey outlets will have a list.
