Travel Sites for StopoversUse these travel resources to find accommodation, transport and perhaps some activities you can fit into your break. It will depend which way you travel, where you might have a stopover .But one thing I do know is......... almost everyone who will be looking here, will be arriving in New Zealand by plane! No points for guessing how I can be so sure! Flight InformationIf you are flying from the UK you will be able to stopover in Europe, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Australia, Fiji, and if you plan slight detours, Japan,Thailand and other South East Asian countries. You may opt to come the opposite way via USA or Canada. Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver all have direct flights to New Zealand. Hawaii,Australia and Fiji are popular stopovers in this direction.Your stopovers are partly determined by the airline you fly with.
I personally like to use my fare to best advantage so would always plan a stopover if time allows. It also helps keep jetlag at bay. If you have very little time, it may seem a hassle going through immigration, and paying for transport and accommodation which can be expensive. Or you may feel the time is too limited to be of value. However, if you pre-plan what you would like to do, so you can go as soon as you are through immigration, it is amazing what you can fit into even a 24 hour stopover. Many airport hotels will also let you pay for a room for the day, if you just want to catch up on some sleep, or relax by their pool, before the next leg of your journey.
