Walking to Red Rocks Seal Colony from Cruise Ship Dock

by Pam

Hi

Are the seals at Red Rocks in Wellington close enough to walk from the cruise ship dock? If not, will the hop on/hop off bus get us close enough to walk?

PS. I've really enjoyed your website! It is very useful!

Hi Pam

No, it would be too far to walk from the cruise ship to Red Rocks. You would need to catch a bus out to Island Bay or if there is a bus to Owhiro Bay a bit beyond Island Bay, that would be better.

The walk is about 8kms from there. There is also a tour that takes you out to the seals - Seal Coast Safari - http://www.sealcoast.com which may work best for you - it departs twice daily from the I-site which is located on the corner of Victoria and Wakefield Streets, in Civic Square right in the heart of downtown Wellington.

I am glad you have found my website useful.

It would be lovely if you could write a review about your walk to Red Rocks after your cruise. It sounds like you have an exciting trip ahead.

Kind Regards
Gail
